The Magpies rounded off their preseason schedule with a defeat against a lively Llanybydder RFC side. Using a large squad the Magpies rotated their team significantly throughout the game which was made up of 3 x 30 minute periods. After a slow start where Llanybydder were very much in the ascendancy the Magpies came back in the game and had establish parity in both territory and possession by the end of the first third, which ended 0-3 to the visitors. Big changes at the interval, including seven of the pack saw the Magpies loose momentum and Llanybydder regain their hold on the game - two tries seeing them going 0-15, before young prop Osian Flint powered over for a try which was converted by Steven Hewitt to bring the score back to 7-15. This is how the scoreline stayed until the second interval. Unfortunately for Tumble Llanybydder maintained their control of the game during the final 30 minutes to extend their lead to 7-29 with two more unanswered tries. In the final couple of minutes of the game referee Julian Thomas suffered a nasty looking knee injury after one of the players collided with the official. Everyone at Tumble RFC wishes Julian a speedy recovery.
