The Ladies XV welcomed Pontypridd side Cilfynydd RFC to Parc y Mynydd Mawr on Sunday and made it two wins out of two with an 18-15 victory. Cilfynydd arrived in Tumble having already chalked up three victories over the Piod Pinc in the last year (including a friendly back in the summer) and would have been confident of making it four on the bounce when they went over for an converted try with barely a minute on the clock. Cilfynydd who had started the game brightly extended their lead to 0-10 after 15 minutes with a penalty after an infringement at a ruck. The last 20 minutes of the first half saw Tumble up their work rate and start to come back into the game strongly, pulling a try back after 30 minutes when hooker Hannah Stephens stormed over. Further pressure from the Piod Pinc saw full back Jessica Thomas outpace the covering defence to score in the corner. The conversion was missed to make the score 10-10 at the break.
The second half was a highly competitive affair with both sides having opportunities to go into the lead. Tumble made a number of changes from the bench and took the lead after 65 minutes when replacement centre Karen Mayze made a classy break to score an unconverted try. The Piod Pinc could only however hold onto the lead for three minutes before Cilfynydd replied with a try of their own making the score 15-15. Both sides were now looking for the score which would probably win the game and when Cilfynydd gave away a penalty up stepped Mayze to land a 35 metre kick to make the score 18-15 to Tumble. Five minutes later the referee blew the final whistle to scenes of jubilation on and off the field. Tumble are now fourth in Division 3, level on points with third placed Morriston RFC who they travel to play in their next game on Sunday, 22 October.
