The Youth XV welcomed near neighbours Cefneithin RFC to Parc y Mynydd Mawr for the second time in two months and claimed a 'double' victory against the Green and Golds, this time by a margin of 26-20. Starting the season with a depleted squad due to having no under 16's the previous season the young Magpies had beaten their local rivals in the previous friendly fixture with a bare 15. However due to the recruitment work of the coaching staff, headed by Selwyn Morgan and the players themselves the Magpies went into this game with a squad of 22 players and with a few others unavailable due to injury and work commitments. 

This was a full blooded league local derby and it only took four minutes for the Magpies to get on the score sheet when wing Daniel Davies crossed the whitewash, the conversion attempt going narrowly wide to make the score 5-0 to the hosts. Cefen got a try of their own after eight minutes and took the lead 5-7 when the conversion was added. Cefen now went into a period of territorial dominance but could not find a way through a stubborn and well organised Tumble defence. Despite having 20 minutes of dominance in terms of possession all Cefen had to show for it was a penalty which made the score 5-10. On 29 minutes Magpies scrum half and vice-captain Morgan Davies slotted over a penalty goal to bring the Black and White's back within two points, 8-10. The last five minutes of the first half was all Tumble, first wing Elis Lewis scorched over from a well executed training ground backs move before prop Jack Tucker powered over in the corner to give the Magpies a 18-10 lead at the interval.

The second half started as it finished with the Tumble scrum in dominant mood and the front row of Rhys Tobias, Ashley Evans and Jack Tucker in control at the set-piece. Cefneithin however where not going to roll over and got back within a point after 53 minutes with a converted try. On 66 minutes Cefen took the lead with a well taken penalty goal to make the score 18-20. With the game hanging on a knife edge Magpies second row Osian Flint was driven over to make the score 23-20 to the home side with less than 10 minutes to go. Both teams had opportunities to score before Morgan Davies stepped up on the brink of full-time to coolly slot over another penalty and give Tumble a 26-20 victory over their neighbours.

Congratulations to both sides on participating in a hard, skillful and exciting game of rugby which was a credit to both clubs.
