Piod Pinc start league campaign with a bang!

The Piod Pinc welcomed Cardiff side Old Penarthians to Parc y Mynydd Mawr on Sunday afternoon for the first fixture of Admiral National Women's League Division 3. In an even first half only a score from the dynamic Seren Singleton, scored under the posts in the closing stages separated the two sides at the interval.

The second half saw the Piod Pinc start in determined mood with the hardworking Mel Hicks offloading to the supporting Singleton who crossed for her second try of the game. Hicks didn't have to wait long for a try of her own when she crossed under the posts for a fine score, converted by Nikki Howells. Mid way through the half Old Penarthians went close to a try of their own before knocking the ball on. A Tumble scrum inside their own 22 saw Hicks gather the ball to run around and through the away defence to score her second try of the game. Following the restart quick hands from Tumble saw the ball worked into the hands of Singleton in the wing position who beat her opposite number to dive over for her hat-trick of tries. If the Piod Pinc thought that they would have it all their own way Old Penarthians had other ideas when they hit back with a try of their own. Just when it looked like Old Penarthians might make a game of it the ball was passed out to the sensational Singlton who used her pace and ability to cross for her fourth game of the game, making the score 32-5 to Tumble. Incredibly Singleton still had time to cross for another try, which was converted by Nikki Howells to end the game 39-5 to the Piod Pinc.

Next Sunday the Piod Pinc are back in action and make the long trip to Merthyr Tydfil to face Dowlais RFC, come and support the girls.
