Club Summer update

It been a strange and uncertain time for us all during the Covid-19 pandemic, but despite this we have a few things to update you all on:

Preason Training:

The senior men and youth teams begin preseason training on Thursday, 13 August at Parc y Mynydd Mawr. This will be socially distanced fitness and ball handling training. There is no update on when the season will be allowed to start with dates ranging from October, January or beyond. With the uncertain nature of the Covid-19 pandemic this is totally up in the air at the moment so we wait and see how things pan out and take advice from the WRU and Welsh Government.

Club Captain elected:

Congratulations to centre Steffan Price who has been elected captain for the second successful season (if we hopefully have a 2020/21 season). Steffan follows in the footsteps of his father Errol, who captained the Magpies for three seasons in the 1990's. Vice-captains will be prop Steven Rees and centre Richard Davies.

Diolch NHS t-shirts:

Many thanks to all who purchased our Diolch NHS t-shirts, all 381 of you. The club raised over £1800 which was split between the Intensive Care Units at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen and Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.

Park Work Day:

It is our annual work day at Parc y Mynydd Mawr on Saturday, 15 August at 9am. Jobs include painting, strimming and general maintenance. Unfortunately, to aid social distancing we are limiting attendance to members of the Senior men, Senior women and youth team squads. There will be no open-invite this year - sorry.

Great Mountain Club Open:

The clubhouse has reopened for members of Great Mountain Workingmen's Club. Please refer to their Facebook page for opening time details.

Sponsorship and Finances:

There are tough times ahead for businesses, families and the county in general as we deal with the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic and BREXIT. Tumble RFC, like so many other businesses is affected by this and we expect to see a considerable downturn in our income over the next 12 months with less money generated through sponsorship. Raising sponsorship is also not helped by the total uncertainty concerning the season - how do you sell advertising space in a match programme, when you don't even know when or indeed if there will be any games? When we know more we'll firm up our sponsorship options but in the meantime, if you would like to support us and know more please email us on clwbrygbiytymbl@gmail.com.
