Taffs Well RFC Ladies made their first visit to Parc y Mynydd Mawr on Sunday afternoon for the inaugural fixture between the two sides in Division 2 of the Women's National League. The Rhondda Cynnon Taf side found the Piod Pinc in uncompromising mood as they ran in seven tries to secure an emphatic 43-10 win.
First half tries from outside half Kirsten Field, scrum half Mabli Davies and wing Phoebe West with two conversions from Field saw Tumble establish a commanding 19-0 half-time lead. The second half carried on in a similar vein with further tries from West, centre Hannah Stephens, co-centre Sophie Campbell-Cross and wing Darcy Hardy. Field completed the scoring with two further conversions. Taffs Well however must be commended for never giving up with two late tries putting some respectability on the scoreline for them.
The win puts the Piod Pinc up to third place in Division 2, tied on 16 points with second placed Morriston RFC, with Deri RFC well clear on 31 points. The battle is now on for a second-placed finish to ensure a place in the top half split going into Phase 2 of the league after Christmas.
