Tumble had to contain a determined Betws performance in the second half of this preseason friendly to emerge victors, 5-21. In their final friendly fixture before the league begins away at Hendy on the 2nd of September the Magpies played some great first half rugby and were unlikely to go into the break only 0-14 up. Tumble's tries were scored by hooker Dafydd Humphreys and flying wing Sam Jones, who followed up his hatrick at Pembroke with another clinical score. Captain and outside half Steven Hewitt added the extras with two well taken conversions. In truth Tumble should have had a greater advantage at the break such was their dominance in possession and territory.
At the break Tumble made a number of changes, including the majority of the pack and this seemed to disrupt the flow of the Magpies game. After two minutes Betws scored a well worked try to bring the score back to 5-14. With the second half being dominated by Betws the Magpies struggled to get a foothold in the game until late on when they started to make some yardage back into Betws territory. The final move of the game saw Sam Jones outpacing the covering defence to score under the posts, Hewitt added the extras to make the final score 5-21 to Tumble.
