On Saturday afternoon the Magpies fell to a 14-30 defeat against visting Loughor RFC. The Blues side contained a number of experienced players including the evergreen former Llanelli and Cardiff scrumhalf Steve Wake and started the game at a frenetic pace being 0-22 up within 17 minutes through three tries, two conversions and a penalty. 22 points down the Magpies started to claw their way back into the game and were rewarded with a try of their own after 24 minutes when number 8 Steffan Davies powered his way over the whitewash. The extras were added by centre Owain Williams who slotted the conversion over to make the score 7-22. The game was pretty much even for the remaining fifteen minutes of the first half and the score remained unchanged at the interval.
The second half was a pretty even affair. The Blues extended their lead after 50 minutes with a try to make the score 7-27 with the conversion rebounding off the upright. Four minutes later the Magpies pulled the score back to 14-27 when outside half Scott Jones went over for a try which was again converted by centre Williams. The Blues completed the scoring on the hour mark when their full back slotted over a penalty to make the score 14-30 to the visitors. The Magpies travel west to Pembrokeshire next weekend to visit Fishguard and Goodwick RFC, kick-off 2.30pm.
