The Magpies made the short trip to neighbours Hendy RFC for this Division 2 West derby but suffered heartbreak with the very last kick of the game. Tumble found themselves 7-0 down after only 7 minutes when Hendy went over for a converted try. Three minutes later however young blindside flanker Owain Davies went over for an unconverted try to bring the score back to 7-5. The Magpies went further behind after 25 minutes when Hendy kicked a penalty goal before centre Leighton McKenna slotted over a penalty to make the score 10-8 at the break.
The second half saw Hendy further extend their lead with another penalty to make the score 13-8. Tumble took the lead for the first time after 51 minutes when wing Sam Jones beat the covering defence to touch down after a kick ahead by Steffan Price. Another Hendy penalty saw them retake the lead, 16-15 before second row Nathan Willard was driven over on 60 minutes for a try that was again converted by McKenna. Tumble were however to be heartbroken and after a concerted period of pressure Hendy crashed over near the posts with 5 minutes of injury time already played. The conversion was the last play of the game and saw Hendy scrape a one point win, 23-22.
Tumble now have two weeks to get over the disappointment before they welcome second placed Tycroes RFC to Parc y Mynydd Mawr on 25th March.
