The Magpies lost their unbeaten home record going down 13-27 at Parc y Mynydd Mawr to league leaders Hendy RFC in front of a large crowd. Hendy built themselves a 10 point lead midway through the first half through a penalty and a converted try. Tumble however came back to within 5 points after number 8 Owain Davies scored an unconverted try and the score remained 5-10 at half time. The Magpies started the second half with a bang as Hooker Dafydd Humphreys scored wide out to make it 10-10. Indiscipline in the Magpies ranks allowed Hendy to build a six point lead through two penalties before replacement centre Leighton McKenna pulled the score back to 13-16 through a penalty goal. More indiscipline saw Tumble concede another penalty making the score 13-22 with full time approaching. The scoring for Hendy was not however over as they crossed for for a try deep into injury time to make it 13-27 at the final whistle.
The Magpies welcome Blackwood RFC from Division 2 West to Parc y Mynydd Mawr next Saturday in Round 2 of the WRU National Plate.
