Christmas update from the club

Unbelievably its now been over 9 months since the 1st XV, Piod Pinc and Youth last took the field of play back in early March, which is our greatest break in play since the Second World War. With Wales firmly in the grip of a second wave of the pandemic getting life back to some form of normality and playing rugby again still doesn't seem likely for some months yet. The WRU have now officially canceled the remainder of the 2020-21 national league season so we wait to see whether there will be any form of rugby, potentially with amended rules before the end of the season. Who knows what will happen but all we can do is look out for one another, keep safe and hope that things will start to improve in the coming months. The return to community rugby update from the WRU can be found here.

You may have found that we have extended our club shop with Picton Sports and now offer a number of new items, ranging from Vx3 jackets and bobble hats to personalised Tumble RFC cushions. Many thanks to Picton Sports for extending the range of items available to purchase.

Some of you maybe aware that a new book chronicling the development of Tumble has been written by Jeff Alexander. The book entitled, Y Tymbl - the Tumble, the growth of a Gwendraeth Valley mining village is a fascinating read and also includes a section on the early days of Tumble RFC from its establishment in 1897 to the early 1960's. Copies are available from Y Farchnad Fach or direct from the author - email jeff@jeffalexander.org.uk.

Behind the scenes we work with Llannon Community Council, Tumble United AFC and others to hopefully bring further developments to Parc y Mynydd Mawr, including additional changing facilities. There are big plans for the Parc and hopefully many of these developments will come to fruition not only for the benefit of the club but the whole community. Most will agree that the new children's play area is a fantastic addition and hopefully there will be more good news on the development front in 2021!

Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish all our players, coaches, officials, members and supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Lets all hope for a year better than 2020 and that at some point in the not to distant future we can start to contemplate putting on the famous black and white jersey on and getting back playing rugby. Keep the Faith!

Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.

Ymlaen Y Piod.
